Mastering Teen Patti: Rules and Hand Rankings

Teen Patti, which translates to "three cards," is a staple of social gatherings in India and a thrilling game of chance and skill. It shares similarities with 3-Card Poker and is incredibly easy to learn.

The Objective

The goal is simple: have a better three-card hand than the other players at the table. The player with the highest-ranking hand at the end of the betting rounds wins the pot.

Hand Rankings (Highest to Lowest)

  • Trio or Trail (Set): Three cards of the same rank. (e.g., A-A-A is the highest, 2-2-2 is the lowest).
  • Pure Sequence (Straight Flush): Three consecutive cards of the same suit. (e.g., A♥ K♥ Q♥ is the highest).
  • Sequence (Straight): Three consecutive cards, but not all of the same suit. (e.g., A♠ K♥ Q♦).
  • Color (Flush): Three cards of the same suit that are not in a sequence. (e.g., K♠ J♠ 2♠).
  • Pair (Double): Two cards of the same rank. The value of the third card (the "kicker") determines the winner if two players have the same pair.
  • High Card: If no player has a pair or better, the hand with the highest single card wins.
